Swaddle According to Websters dictionary definition, it means to wrap, envelope and secure a small infant. The art of swaddling is a tried and true method of wrapping your baby so he/she feels very secure and warm. While comfortably growing in the womb, your baby was kept in a very small space and was restricted as far as his movement as well as being very warm and safe. This same feeling is needed when the baby arrives and comes into the world of wonder. They need to know that they will be kept safe and sound and warm so the adjustment to life is not as traumatic to their young bodies and brains. This method of wrapping also prevents scratching of their faces and eyes.

The art of swaddling is not brain surgery so it is a concept that can be learned within a short period of time. You need to have a large blanket so you can continue to provide the warm and security that you provided your little one when he first arrived on the planet. We provide a 36 x 36 receiving blanket that can be used during the swaddle stage up into the toddler stage. This blanket is made of flannel and will provide the warmth that is needed to make your baby comfortable.

How to Swaddle:

Step One: Take one of Jans large receiving blankets and fold down one corner making a triangle.

Step Two: Lay your baby face up and in the center with your babys head at the folded edge and his feet toward the bottom of the triangle.

Step Three: Take the left side of the triangle and wrap it tightly over your babys body and tuck it under his/her side to secure.

Step Four: Bring the bottom of the triangle up an over your babys feet to the neck and fold down slightly under his/her chin.

Step Five:: Hold the babys left side as you bring the right side of the triangle over and wrap it around your babys body.

Economy is our prime focus for new parents, although the industry focuses on stages of life from a newborn to graduate, we focus on versatility and money savings during this expensive stage of your babys growth. Buying a large receiving blanket versus buying several small ones that will accommodate the childs growing stages is only one of the many products that we have developed.

Swaddling is a strange sounding word, but it does make for a snug and safe baby!
